LAS VEGAS, NV (May 1, 2005) – IGMAS Gaming, a division of IGMAS Technologies, Inc. announced the successful completion of its most recent IT conversion engagement with Resorts International/ Colony Resorts RIH Acquisitions, Inc. at the Resorts East Chicago Hotel and Casino. The engagement with Resorts International included mission-critical IT services such as Technology Project Management, Infrastructure Consulting and on-site technical engineering services. Product specialists and management were brought on-site to manage key deployment efforts including Active Directory, Wide Area Networking and Switching, desktop imaging and software distribution strategies, along with teams of desktop imaging and deployment resources. The Resorts East Chicago property was purchased by Colony Resorts RIH Acquisitions, Inc. from Harrah’s Entertainment on April 25th as part a $1.24 billion deal with Harrah’s and Caesars Entertainment.
“The Resorts East Chicago project offered us a number of challenges from an infrastructure perspective. We had been advised late in the project that, at cutover, the entire server farm and over 350 desktop PC’s would need to be reformatted using a Department of Defense (DOD) tool to wipe the hard drives clean of applications, data, and operating systems. We would then have 48 hours to rebuild everything for opening. This was on top of our other activities including bring up a WAN between our numerous other properties, migrating to a new mail system, and bringing several new applications on-line”, stated Marc Guarino, Vice President of IT for the Las Vegas Hilton who was responsible for the IT activities of this conversion. “We had been very pleased with the responsiveness and services that IGMAS Gaming provided to us throughout the conversion at the Las Vegas Hilton last year, and we turned to them again this year to help us through the unique challenges of this transition. IGMAS’ planning and the execution of their project plan to get all of this work done including the rebuilding of the site’s server farm and switching infrastructure within 48 hours on time and within budget was great! We could not have been more pleased.”
IGMAS President Michael Breindel indicated that while the conversion posed several unique technology and timing challenges, he was confident that he could bring together the best of their IT experience, project management, and the right resources to make this transition successful, and ultimately exceed expectations. “One of the real challenges we had was the window given to rebuild all of the infrastructure servers and workstations, each customized to the application or user’s specific needs. We knew we had to develop an aggressive project plan and make use of all the manufacturers’ deployment tools to meet our client’s expectations. Ultimately, the flexibility of Active Directory, Microsoft Office 2003, and the use of Symantec’s GhostCast Multi-Cast process proved to be invaluable. Multi-Cast enabled us to distribute multiple images of various types with customized operating systems all at one time. Ours was a great team effort that took quite a bit of planning and organization. All teams on-site were enthusiastic and were extremely focused to perform at their very best to make this a smooth and seamless conversion for Resorts. We are very delighted that the Colony organization continues to have the confidence and trust in our abilities and experience to guide them through these transitions.”
